The Joker by
Ron Salas
Like most Batman fans, I really like the Joker. But I like him funny, crazy and a bit classy in his purple suits. I don't like him with a cut-up face and/or just being evil with no jokes. If you want a crazy killer who's all dark and mutilated, then use Zsasz. Anyway, my favorite artistic depictions of the Joker come from Timm, Nowlan, Aparo, Adams, Garcia-Lopez, Bolland and Breyfogle. And now I can add Salas to that list. Ron captured the Clown Prince of Crime perfectly here. His face conveys his insanity and his evil nature, and his relaxed pose while holding a deadly weapon shows how murder is just not a big deal to him. I also just love how Ron drew Joker's suit (check out the folds) and the lettering around Joker's head. As always, thanks to Ron for delivering awesome commissions!
