DescriptionThe Fantastic Simpsons #1 Commission.Pencils and Inks with an image area of 10 X 15 on a 14 X 17 piece of Bristol. Pencils and Inks: Brian Douglas Ahern Brian Douglas Ahern Simpsons cover commission done in 2002 that predates Comic Book Guy: The Comic Book from July of 2010. The Simpsons #1 comic was done in November of 1993. This cover commission is done in the style of The Simpsons art has Marge instead of Sue Storm, Homer instead of the Thing, Lisa with a skipping rope instead of Reed trapped in rope, Bart flying in on a skateboard instead of Johnny Storm. A lot of detail and planning went into this piece. Ahern was told to do a literal, direct, highly detailed homage to Fantastic Four #1 with art that's 100% Simpsons. The commissioner said "I want something that if Matt Groening saw, would think his staff made it." and I think that's what he got. Social/Sharing |
