DescriptionI've been wanting to commission something from Francheso for a while now - I just love his rendering style, especially with "drapy" and "flowy" stuff (pardon my creating new words, but they're very appropriate when talking about Franchesco's art) that I've seen online. He was one of the draws for me to make the haul up to Dallas for Wizard World TX 2005. I tried to think of someone that he could do some great ornamental work with, and had an inspiration - Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel a.k.a. Warbird! Both of those costumes have a sash of some sort, so she would be perfect! I printed a reference pic of each outfit, handed them to him and said he could choose which one he wanted to draw; he got to the original Ms. Marvel costume and declared "Seventies all the way, bay-bee!" He got really excited about the project and wanted to work on her in his room, so the next morning this is the BEAUTY he handed to me. I just *love* this piece! And he threw in the Cosmic Cube! A first for my art collection ;) I hesitate to call this a "convention sketch", it's really a finished piece of artwork. I hope to add more Franchesco pieces to my collection in the future - he was a true delight to chat with and I just love his style. Pencils on 11"x14" Bristol.Social/Sharing |

I am sooooo jealous, Roland! This baby belongs in my Ms. Marvel gallery... but I will just have to drool over her from afar, I suppose. Terrific work by the great Franchesco! Congratulations on a fantastic pickup!

Heh, thanks Michael! I think Francheso really outdid himself with her, and he seemed quite proud of how she turned out. With very good reason, IMO. Thanks for the comments!
