DescriptionOn this Veterans Day, I'm posting Nick's watercolor of a VE Day parade in Paris, France (May 8, 1945). Published in Nick Cardy: The Artist at War, page 124. Nick said after the war, he decided that he wasn't going to worry about anything unless someone was shooting at him. As hard as that could be, I think he pretty much stuck to that. Nick probably didn't mean it to be advice but it's something to keep in mind. This piece appears to be watercolor and ink. Later, the art was varnished. Nick was originally drafted into the 66th Infantry Division, where he redesigned their shoulder patch. Later, Nick was transferred to the Third Armored Division as a tank driver. Acquired from Nick's estate via ComicConnect. Social/Sharing |

It is good advice. Thanks to Nick and all our veterans for the sacrifices they made on our behalf.
