Darth Vader: The Assault On Kashyyk

The Dark Lord of The Sith has landed on Kashyyk Post-Order 66, declaring all Jedi traitors to the Republic-turned-Empire. Here we have Darth Vader on the hunt for a surviving Wookie Jedi (armed and ready behind the tree), while a gutsy Wookie cub is there to assist. Vader, at the same time, is employing a Force Fog technique; he's drawing mist in to cloud his movements and better ensure a successful sneak attack or retaliation. Etched on 9 x 12 with mixed media, this is the product of three weeks of work. I'm especially proud of the chalk pastel I've employed to better separate the background from the foreground. Updated September 29/21: I've gone back to refurbish this by not only tightening up some of the details on the sleeves and pants (via new Cool Grays and white prismacolor) but ALSO a liquid gel pen for a dark pink gleam on his knee pads and boots to show some lightsaber shine. The biggest drawback last time, I realize, is that he is holding a light source, so the closest parts of his armor has to interact with that light source. To show some textural distinction, I chose an R05 for the cloth part of his uniform to contrast it with the black metal pieces. I also threw on another layer of pastel chalk because I felt the coverage wasn't thick enough. Overall I'm glad I went back to do more work on this after six years of learning new tricks and gaining new tools. I even put some more detail on the Wookie Jedi's furry face.
