DescriptionNice relaxed scene of Captain America. WRONG,PSYCH! It's really the Red Skull transformed into Cap. by the Cosmic Cube, from one of my favorite issue #117 whichalso introduced The Falcon. During the early 90's before the internet exploded or ebay, a source for comic art was The Comic Buyers Guide newspaper, I saw the tiniest ad with no photo just a general description & the sellers phone number, I knew this book by heart & ran to my phone & called the seller & told him to take money already; it was at early 1990's prices so I didn't think twice. Next to Kirby Gene is my favorite Cap. artist & his run with Sinnott as inker was tops. Social/Sharing |

Nice to see this again! Seriously, Gene made iconic shots over and over again, and this one is so incredibly perfect -- of course the Red Skull would do this in Cap's body -- I've always loved the image (as you know). Thanks for showing it off in this decade.

What a brilliantly drawn (and racially diverse) page! As great as the Colan/Sinnott art looks, I also really love the dialogue in this multipage sequence as the public adores Cap and Cap thinks demented thoughts all the while. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks for sharing this!Yes, it's a little hard to see but the afro/american reporter was added later, a head was whited out & redrawn maybe a Marvel bullpen artist; also to the right in the margins is a note to color him accordingly.

Those types of editorial comments are so interesting. I didn't pick up on the fact that the head was redrawn. It looks like John Romita Sr. could have done that.

Sinnott seems like he would be the least-likely match for Colan's fluid pencils, but instead they are a perfect pair--such a unique blend of styles; and in terms of story, pure 1960s Marvel magic that you can't help but smile at. I love this page!

One of the greatest Colan/Sinnott Cap pages EVER! Hilarious and majestic at the same time. I've been trying to buy this from you for 15 years, Fernando, but it's great to finally see it up on CAF!

Amazing splash! Colan and Sinnott certainly gave readers a treat in CAPTAIN AMERICA 117 & 118. These two issues which introduced THE FALCON had some of the greatest Captain America full page splashes I've seen. Congrats, Fernando!
