WW2 had only been over for 9 years. The president is Dwight D. Eisenhower. The hot song is Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets. NBC’s “The Tonight Show” was first aired with Steve Allen as the host and the top show is "I Love Lucy". It was a very different time which is reflected by the humor of this story.
