Nightcrawler Hipster Version - Chris Moreno

Chris Moreno is an artist that I saw after exploring the "Garage Art studios" tables while looking at Tone Rodriguez's art. I loved his sense of humor with his original work Zombie Dickheads and his X-men piece for the Hero Initiative X-men book. I asked Chris if he would be interested in doing a Hipster piece and he immediately wanted Nightcrawler.

Chris really went all out on this piece. I love the tweedily mustache that Kurt is rocking, it is frankly stunning. All the accessories and the dual reference of the BAMF shirt is just magic. The fact that Nightcrawler is carrying a skateboard despite not needing one is also a great touch. One part that the scan does not properly convey is how beautiful the bamf smoke is. The smoke is layered, textured, and has more details on the wisps that do not show up in the scan. It adds some extra pop and is a creative touch that Chris puts into all of his pieces. I'm really thankful to Chris that he put in so much effort and really went for it on this particular request.
