DescriptionI'm a big fan of Das Pastoras ...his work has precision (not unlike Quitely) but at the same time theres this stylized lumpy oddness about it (not unlike Richard Corben)...all that dipped in a heavy dose of Liberatore (thanks to Saut & Felix for pointing this out to me...so true).I originally found his work about 10 years ago through some Marvel short stories. No page resonated with me more than this one. This was a short retelling of Punisher's origin....him coming home to an empty house...his newly dead family's breakfast still out on the table. I love this page because storytelling wise with a few simple shots of a half eaten breakfast the reader clearly and concisely understands every reason why Frank becomes The Punisher. Pastoras hand paints everything masterfully, adds razor sharp details when need be, and has some of the best honest lumpy figures in comics...the guy is incredible. Thanks to Felix for hunting this down! Social/Sharing |

I'm not sure what is cooler, this page or the fact that a big time artist like you is positing it ! (And yeah you are big time so deal with it )

Totally agree with your interesting analysis about Das Pastoras style, which still remains truly unique. Great page!

It shows that Frank once had a normal life... and it's gone in a blink. Looks like it takes place a day or two after they were killed. But I just can't picture him having guns on display, Frank wasn't the kind of person to have them near his kids.
