73rd Station Hospital - Doc from SNOW WHITE

The 73rd Station Hospital was officially activated for overseas in the North Africa Theater on 20 March 1943. While in North Africa the hospital treated wounded from the Tunisia and subsequent campaigns. They left their location in Algeria closing down on Jan 20, 1944. It then moved to the Italian mainland, opening at Caserta, Italy, where it operated from 24 Feb. to Jun. 1944. After its stay in Caserta, the hospital traveled once more, now setting up in Rome (liberated on 4 Jun. 1944)where it was set up in a former Italian hospital from 5 July 1944 to 18 Jun.1945. The insigne was designed for the unit in May 1944. Doc was laid over a Medical Red Cross.
