Description

This is another themed sketch I acquired at a con in Toronto in 2002. Mike Norton is far better known today for his work on such projects as Battlepug and Revival, and he was a mainstay of Marvel for several years. He started out with smaller press efforts such as The Waiting Place from Slave Labor Graphics and Jason & the Argobots from Oni Press. Chiron, the titular giant robot from the latter book written by J. Torres, is featured in this sketch, getting an ouchie from an electrical surge.

Norton employed blue pencil and traditional graphite pencil to render this sketch. Most striking about it is the memorable design of the mechanical character. It strikes me as one part Iron Giant and one part Mike Mignola concept.
