DescriptionBruce McCorkindale did a great job recreating Jack Burnley's wonderful cover to Superman #24 dated September-October 1943. Burnley was probably the most talented artist to draw Superman & Batman in the Golden Age of Comics. In the additional images you will find a photo of the beginnings of the recreation and a scan of the comic book as published. Pen, brush and ink on 13 X 20" bristol board.I asked Bruce if he used a razor for the "light splash," and he responded "Some of it was inked by hand, and I did some of it with white-out. The original was definitely slashed with a razor blade. I could have done it that way, but it would have been hard to replicate the original! I like to replicate the original tools as much as possible, but my main concern, always, is getting the best-looking final art possible." Social/Sharing |
