The New Mutants #78, p24

Rick Leonardi with his usual composition genius for that other page in my collection from The New Mutants #78. This is simple regular panels with well planned and executed action.

As always, Rick Leonardi shows an astonishing capacity to lead the reader's eye with the action unfolding here.

From the direction ours heroes and the chopper are taking in panel 1 to the U-turn by the exploding helicopter in panel 2, all the while continuing in that same direction with Cannonball in panel 3, to conclude with another U-turn to the right in the last panel in order to lead our watchful and eager eye to the following page.

In layman's terms: lots of stuff happening in the clearest, smoothest way possible.
Inks by the great Al Williamson are not rendered justice by the photo, especially for Roberto.
