Description
Joe Simon and Jack Kirby created the romance comic book genre with Young Romance. For the initial years would have a confessional splash and generally would be penciled by Kirby. These splashes would often be racier than the covers. Unfortunately this appears to be the only original art of these confessional splashes that has survived.

This belongs (and someday I'm sure will be) in a museum.  An honest-to-gosh Kirby Romance confessional -- how the heck did this survive???

Very cool. And kind of frightening, too.

Wow, this one radiates tension.  And so beautifully drawn.  And from 1950 !!!  Amazing.

Beautifully drawn and extraordinarily tense - this is halfway between a romance page and a splash from the Demon! A really lovely thing to have found.

This is an amazing find and a piece of history.  I just love the big patterns of light and dark on the page and the design Kirby put into every detail, such as the tree bark, the man's shadow in the upper left, the fold patterns in the clothing, and of coruse the woman's hands and face.  Even the staging of the small characters at the bottom is right on the money and screams Kirby.

I somehow missed this for four years. It's just terriifc - pre-code, so it reflects all the emotions, and it isn't aimed at kids. I love all the things already mentioned in the comments but just wanted to point out that her belt would look pretty good on Princess Zanda, Morgan LaFey or Thena of the Eternals.

A rare example of this genre...Kirby's women were so easily identifiable.

I so much loved the texture of the inking on these pages.  Just beautiful.
