Description

Published 1985 by Arrow Books (UK) a reprint of the original novel published by DAW Books in 1980.

The 23rd book in the saga of Dumarest of Terra.
The saga was concluded after 33 volumes spanning from 1967 to 2008.

The stories are set in a far future galactic culture that is fragmented and without any central government. Dumarest is searching for his home planet of Earth and have adventures on different planets as he continues his quest.
This book finds Dumarest on Ascelius, an academic world, whose primary business was teaching the knowledge of the thousands of worlds. He finds that there had once been a study group for Earth lore. However, his enemies, the Cyclan have a presence on this world.

Fred Gambino (born 1956) is a British artist whose illustrations has graced the covers of over 400 hundred Science Fiction books. He is also a film and games concept artist, including movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor: Ragnarok.

I'd love to know more about this great SCI-FI art. However no one can dispute sans story still a powerful work of art.
