Description

"Long Ben"(Henry Every), a dapper, feathered Fabio, plucks another bit of plunder from it's sumptuous setting. Both captor and captive elegantly dressed with Long Ben going so far as to affect curls more suitable for the French court than the high seas. Unafraid to voice her displeasure, this well-endowed wench looks capable of giving as well as she receives." Published in ANIMAL QUAKERS (1996) by Gemstone Publishing, featuring "Famous figures from history as they might have looked had their genes gotten mixed with waterfowl" by Carl Barks and previously as the cover to PANELS #2 in 1981. "Long Ben" was a buccaneer who preyed on shipping in the Indian Ocean region off Madagascar. Every was notorious. He earned his infamy by becoming one of few major pirate captains to retire with his loot without being arrested or killed in battle, and for being the perpetrator of what has been called the most profitable pirate heist in history. Although Every's career as a pirate lasted only two years, his exploits captured the public's imagination, inspired others to take up piracy, and spawned works of literature. Signed and dated.
