SUPERMAN #225 page 4 by Curt Swan & George Roussos - Alien Vrol makes a double of Supes

When I got the desire to start collecting original art, I decided my primary target would be Superman pages, and one of the very first I bought was a Curt Swan page. I always loved Curt's style, which to me is THE definitive style for that character. This page came into my hands a little later thanks to eBay, and it really encapsulates what I love about that era of The Big Blue Boyscout. Creepy-looking aliens, a Superman double... it's perfect. This issue came out in April of 1970, but the page has a Comics Code stamp on the back from November of 1969, so "technically" I guess you could call it a Silver Age Curt Swan SUPERMAN page. That's how the seller presented it, and at the time I was so excited to get a Curt Swan Supes page from the Silver Age that I didn't care to check the dates. This holds a place of honor in my collection, it's the earliest Swan page I have so far. The inks by George Roussos give it a harder edge than most are probably used to seeing in Curt's art, but considering the dark nature of the events happening in these panels, it kind of fits.
