Captain America #700, page 16.

This is my grail piece.

I cannot believe that I actually own a sequential page by Chris Samnee!
And such a gorgeous one too.

From my gallery, I think it's pretty clear that Chris is hands down my favorite artist. I've loved his art since I first saw it on DeviantArt about a decade ago, shortly before he did a brief stint on Ultimate Spider-Man.
I dreamed of one day being able to buy a piece from him and have been fortunate enough to pick up a bunch of his "doodles"/sketches when he has sold those. But from the time he started on Daredevil, I've desperately wanted a sequential page from him.
The problem was that he didn't sell any, at all.

For whatever reason, that changed with Captain America. He started selling off pages from that run on eBay.
For the first several issues, I looked on in anguish, as the pages were sold, while I simply didn't have the money to buy any.
Finally, I decided that I'd regret it forever if I didn't get a page, so I took a small-ish loan, just as the final round of pages went up for sale.
I then spent the next week constantly going over the pages, looking at the scans, reading the issue again and again, trying to decide which page I wanted the most, before ending up with a prioritized list of all 14 pages. After going over the list with my fiancee, she helped me realize that this page was actually the very best, instead of the second best, as I had originally thought.
When the end of the auction finally came, I ended up being the high bidder on this and have been in ecstasy since, simply unable to believe I own this amazing page!

This page is just gorgeous and full of wonderful storytelling from the best comic artist alive.
I love how the first four panels gives the impression that Captain America is made up of Kirby Krackle and doves. Action and peace. It's simple, subtle and masterful.
The way Cap fully enters our timeline again in panel five to seven is also wonderful, really giving the reader the feeling of being disoriented and suddenly being back on the jungle island, before the final panel gives us a great shot of Cap realizing he doesn't have time to settle in. He has to take action.

Once again, I cannot believe I am lucky enough to own this amazing page. Easily the grail of my collection!
