Description

A Bruce McCorkindale painstaking re-creation of Wally Wood's cover art to SALLY FORTH #1. Bruce used a combination of pen, brush, ink, wash, and watercolor pencils on this one...not to mention a lot of Xacto knife scraping! 13" x 20" on bristol. "A lot of the gradations were done with ink washes and watercolor pencils, then I'd pick away with an Xacto knife to try and capture the zip fx!"

And after all was said and done, I suggested that Bruce adjust the signature to include Woody's old signature style in his attribution - which Bruce agreed added a nice touch (even though it was not the style Wood used on the actual original).

Bruce mentioned that for the zip-a-tone effects, he picked away with an Xacto knife, or added in some dots with white paint and a small brush. and blended in some watercolor pencil over that to get a gradation. "A lot of the gradations were done with ink washes and watercolor pencils, then I'd pick away with an Xacto knife to try and capture the zip fx!"
