Fleer Ultra Spider-Man '97 (FUSM97) Sketchagraph Scarlet Spider by Steve Epting

FUSM '97 was just one of many Spidey (and Marvel) card sets I collected while growing up. I remember whenever a card set would come out I would always look on the back wrapper and see what the bonus (chase) cards were and how hard they would be to find. Well for this set there was only one type of bonus card and it was called a sketchagraph. The chances of getting one were 1 out of 288 packs! Marvel sets never had these before and I had no idea what they were or what they would look like. I bought so many packs hoping to get a sketchagraph and then one day I went into the card shop and they had one in their display case. It was a Spider-Man by Adam Kubert. I thought it was so cool and now I wanted one even more! The shop wouldn't sell it though as it was only on display for customers to see (and what I guess was to entice them to buy as many packs as possible in hopes of finding one). Well the set had come and gone and I never got one, but about 2 years later in 1999 at the Pacific Northwest Comic-Con there was a vendor who had 7 packs of FUSM '97 sitting on his table for sale for $0.50 each. I bought all seven packs for $3 and while on the car ride home I opened them all up and I finally pulled this beautiful piece by Steve Epting. I was beyond ecstatic and this card will always be special to me!
