Description

Purchased from Terry Beatty in October 2019. When I asked Terry about this piece he told me that it was a "1930's Saturday afternoon serial-style "else worlds" Batman. Gangsters, cops, hooded villain. Something Max (Allan Collins) and I talked through -- and I think was shut down by some DC editor on a preliminary pitch, so I never completely finished the concept art. Commish. Gordon was going to turn out to be the bad guy. Could have been fun, but wasn't to be."

James W Gordon could never be the bad guy. I think that alone could doom a project.

I'm sure that there are all kinds of ways Commissioner Gordon could have been the bad guy - in fact I believe that under hypnosis this has even been used in the past. Ultimately, surely he would have been turned 'round right, as they say.
