DescriptionProduced by Carl Barks as part of the 75+ color drawings he created between 1996 and 1997 especially for an event celebrating his 96th Birthday. Each guest received one numbered gold colored coin to place in a small bank box next to the art they wanted. At the end one coin was selected as the winner and the holder could buy the piece. It's interesting that this drawing was not placed in the auction but pulled before any one had a chance at it. The first like image was used as the cover for WALT DISNEY COMICS #108 in 1949, and over the years, eight oil paintings variations followed it. This interpretation was published in the 1997 BARKS TREASURY COLLECTION. Also published in CARL BARKS MALERIER OG TEGNINGER by Geoffrey Blum, p393.Signed in the lower right of the matted 9.75" x 12.75 image area and framed to 20.75" x 23.5". In excellent condition.
