I think that the first time I saw Pete Woods' art was on Stormwatch, but it may have been Deadpool. But I remember really becoming a big fan of his work when he went over to DC and started drawing Robin. I've since been following his work on many books, from the various Superman comics he's drawn to Legion Lost to Cryptocracy to Archie. So when I had the opportunity to commission Pete last year, I leapt at the chance. I asked Pete to do a "Karate Kid vs." commission, and gave him a few different opponents to choose from. Pete chose Shatterstar in his original costume, which I loved. Not long afterwards, Pete delivered this incredible commission to me! Pete went ALL OUT here, with both combatants fighting it out in an arena on Mojoworld with a cheering crowd, drone cameras, and of course Mojo's crazy face on a huge monitor watching the fight. I love that there are signs in the crowd with a star symbol for Shatterstar and a Legion symbol for Karate Kid. I love ALL of the details here, I mean look at the folds in Shatterstar's costume, the motion effects on Karate Kid's foot as he breaks one of the double-bladed swords, and the city in the background. Pete delivered one heck of a commission here. Then I handed this one off to Simon Gough and by golly he made it even more gorgeous! First off, I love that beautiful sky! And Shatterstar's hair looks fabulous! And look at those screen effects on Mojo! Simon is a wonder. HUGE thanks to both Pete and Simon for their work on this commission!

Shatterstar is stronger, faster and tougher than Karate Kid. Shatterstar is also armed with multiple swords and is an expert martial artist. That all being said, he has definitely been defeated by superior opponents before, like Deadpool, and that's exactly what is going to happen here when Karate Kid kicks his butt live on pay-per-view broadcast in front of all of Mojoworld. That being said, I'm sure it's all part of some plan to distract Mojo while the Legion and X-Force do something sneaky to take Mojo down, so I'm sure Shatterstar and Karate Kid will draw out the fight and make it super entertaining.
