Description

In this seemingly never-ending series of Legion commissions that Joel Carroll is drawing for me, we continue for now to focus on the villains. This time I asked Joel to draw three of the Legion of Super-Heroes' more memorable foes, who while they may not be considered on the same level as the Time Trapper or Mordru, certainly have the potential to be. Pulsar Stargrave is a man of many origins. He has the power of a living star and has proven himself powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with the entire Legion. The Infinite Man has vast time manipulation powers, and once temporarily defeated the Time Trapper. Universo is a former Green Lantern with extremely powerful super-hypnotism powers. Using these powers, Universo has almost taken over the United Planets a couple times.

From left to right, here we have Pulsar Stargrave, Infinite Man, and Universo. I'm always interested in what Joel will do with characters who differ greatly in size. I really dig what he did here with Infinite Man's energized form looming largely behind the other two villains. And I really dig how Joel drew Infinite Man's face here. That shading works so well! And Pulsar Stargrave looks fantastic in his 70's bejeweled outfit! I also like the energy effects around his hands. And then we have the extremely pompous Universo! He looks like he's too good to be around these other two villains, even though they are more powerful than him. Joel managed to make him look so snooty here, with the look on his face and his costume looking absolutely perfect. So yes, as usual, Joel did an amazing job drawing even more Legion characters for me and I give him all of my praise! Thanks, Joel!
