DescriptionThe Thing made one solo appearance with the Micronauts back in the glory days of the Bronze Age, but the full team up potential of these headliners was never explored to its maximum potential. As I have been known to do from time to time, I have taken it upon myself to commission a series of key scenes in a kind of faux 'what if' comic that never was, but should have been. The Marvel era of the Microverse was steeped in the horror and menace of Baron Karza's Body Banks, a ghoulish scientific laboratory/torture chamber where the rich could buy replacement bodies and eternal life at the expense of those less fortunate. I wanted an all-out-melee set in those same Body Banks, Ron wanted to draw the shape-shifting Micronaut called Huntaar, and viola! I forget who suggested including Bug, but I am glad he is there. Many of the weird enemy creatures featured in this scene are sourced from Micronauts Annual # 1, as drawn by no less than the immortal Steve Ditko. This was a very positive commission experience. My sincere thanks to Ron and Bill for the great drawing. Social/Sharing |
