Description

This is the kind of Carol Day example that intrigues me - look at the silhouettes of figures in the background by the airplane. They speak to the attention to detail that Wright put into every strip. Does the strip really need them? No. But, they are there and provide a depth to the composition that would not exist without them.

A real big thank you to Guy Mills for agreeing to part with this one, and two others I'm posting today. With his help, I'm getting close to halfway there in pulling the complete Lance Hallam together!

As always, looking for any and all examples from the Lance Hallam storyline from Carol Day! If you have one or know of one, I'd love to hear about it.

Before reading your comment, the first thing that struck me was the depth of the third panel. So, yes, Mr. Killacky, I agree completely. The second thing that struck me was Carol's position - almost out of the frame - in panel one. Who does that and gets away with it? David Wright.

You both make great points re the choices and effort Wright made on this beautiflul daily. What strikes me is the contrast in size of the foreground and middlegrond figures in panels 1 and 3. He had to make small portraits in these panels, but really pulled it off. Lots of great textures and strokes throughout this daily!
