Description

These two colored pieces for the Kirby 4th World pages of the History of the D.C. Universe were the first pieces of artwork that I acauired from the series. It took many years for me to get the original pen and ink pages by Perez. The owner had promised a friend of mine (with my involvement being undisclosed to the then owner) that he would give him first chance to buy them if he ever decided to sell. Of course, he never contacted my friend and sold them directly to a major dealer -- the same dealer, in fact, from whom I had earlier bought the colored pieces. Fortunately, I spoke with that dealer before these were sold, although the Superman, Batman, and Teen Titan pages by Perez, all of which my friend was repeatedly assured, over the course of many years, would someday be offered to us, were all sold by the dealer before I knew they had even changed hands. This should surprise me? I believe that Bill Wray's coloring of the stats for this series(taken from Perez' original art) is the best comic art coloring job that I have ever seen.
