Idealized family celebration feel for Marvel's first family!       

Oh wow. Fantastic cover that really invokes the classic Americana aesthetic of the original FF time period. I loved their run and this is a top notch example. Congrats!

I don't know why but I find amusing that an English artist who came to (comics) superstardom drawing subversive titles (Stormwatch, Authority, Ultimates...) is paying homage to one of the greatest American (family/feel good) painters. In any case, he did it well and all the details you mention are fun additions.

One to be framed above the fireplace for the whole family (and guests) to admire.

Great points, F M!  I think Bryan and Mark were able to infuse their (under-appreciated) FF run with a bit of edge / subversion...  Even in this issue, below the Rockwell cover homage, is a story about Reed's nephew wanting to sacrifice Valeria Richards to the Dark God that eats babies to keep the denizens of the town they inhabit healthy and youthful.  Sounds like clobberin' time to me...  And I know it's just coincidence rather than cheekiness, but I love that the initials of the original referenced piece, 'Freedom From Want', contain "FF".  :)  Thanks again, F M (and everyone)!

Any cover with our favorite blue-eyed, bashful hero front-and-center makes me smile, and this is a great family scene to boot. Switching in our favorite hero family on this Rockwell homage is a great choice by Hitch. A powerful image that hits old, remembered nostalgia points (often a winning formula). I love the heavy detailing inks that draw your eyes in a ring around the table through all the figures. There's lots of great detail in the middle of the table, but they are left lighter, so as not to take away from the characters, imo. Great cover, Jason. Big congrats!

Thank you, J H.  Great points about the heavy inking around the edges of the table (as opposed to the center of it) and I'm right with you in regards to Bashful Benji; a wonderful image of him, I think intended to be the equivalent of the gentleman in the lower right corner of the original Rockwell, looking at the "camera".  He doesn't cheat Ben out the full way to the audience, but there's a sly, sideways look in Ben's eye that makes me think he's on his way there...  Thanks J H and everyone for your comments!

A masterpiece by Bryan Hitch that shows the core of this book -- family, warts and all.  The character interactions are subtle and beautifully rendered.  I absolutely love this cover.  Thanks for sharing!

So awesome, Jason - I know you were stoked to get this home!  Hard to top as indicative of the FF, Marvel's first FAMILY.  There's the cosmic, inter-dimensional, spacefaring venture but it always comes back to family first.  Everyone looks great...just makes you smile looking at it :)  And I LOVE Hitch's Ben Grimm!  Congrats, man!

Such a beautiful play on Norman Rockwell's FREEDOM FROM WANT piece.  I always enjoy some of the Superhero downtime that makes them more human.   This piece represents it well.  FANTASTIC find!!!

Such a great "in the moment" piece that brings the super heroes down to earth and provides a glimpse into the hope that they also get to live normal lives. Hitch delivers as always! Fantastic cover!
