Celeste McCauley by
Gene Gonzales and
Simon Gough
During the "Five Years Later" timeline, Celeste McCauley aka Neon was a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes who had bonded with Green Lantern energy. She eventually lost her physical body to become a being of pure Green Lantern energy. Then, right around the time of Zero Hour, when the Legion of Super-Heroes was being affected by multiple time fluctuations, Celeste was transformed into a Darkstar. Gene Gonzales likes to draw Legion characters, and I like commissioning him to draw costumes and characters that he's never drawn before. So Darkstar Celeste seemed like a great choice! And Gene did an awesome job! I love the pose and the crackling energy, and I think that Gene did such a great job with his first drawing of a Darkstar uniform. I sent the drawing over to coloring wizard extraordinaire Simon Gough and like always, he made it look even better! The energy effects and the starry background are incredible, but I also want to point out how Simon added color shading to Celeste's face that really enhances the character. As usual, my hat is off to both Gene and Simon!
