Description

19.75" X 13.25" by Jack Faragasso. Oil on board, circa 1977. Published cover painting for the science fiction book "The Daleth Effect" by Harry Harrison (Berkley Pub Group; Second Printing edition, December 1, 1977).

For 50 years, Jack held on to only a handful of his finished science fiction book cover paintings, cherishing those that he felt most special to him. At 92 years of age, he felt it was time to finally give someone else the pleasure to own them. Jack has been such a blessing to me, and a profound inspiration in my own artistic endeavors. I feel truly fortunate to be the custodian of several of these "most beloved works" for the next 50 years. Thank you, Jack!

I suspected that the main subject matter was purposely blurred to create a unique effect and this was confirmed by Jack who felt that by blurring the main subject but making the futuristic city crisp in the background, it would add an air of mystery to the painting. A very unusual concept that really works on this!
