Description
Michael H. Price and Todd Camp Moviola Weekly Comic Strip First "Phantom of the Oscars" Sequence (CapCities/Disney/NYT News Service, 1992). Price and Camp launch "The Phantom of the Oscars," an annual laff-riot spoof of the Academy Awards. Hollywood caricatures include Stephen Spielberg, Danny Elfman, David Cronenberg, Robin Williams, Barbra Streisand, and others too humorous to mention. The artists had just scored with the graphic novel Carnival of Souls when they developed Moviola as a feature for the newspapers' weekend entertainment supplements. Early consultants included MAD's Harvey Kurtzman and humorist Mel Brooks. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Dimensions,10" x 5.25". Excellent condition.
