Description-"Tell me...Levi Kamei, what is The Green?"-"It is...memory". Next month marks the 50th anniversary of the debut of Swamp Thing, Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson's most famous creation in the pages of House Of Secrets. What Ram V and Mike Perkins are doing with the character is a breath of fresh air, hitting all the key points I've come to expect from reading a Swamp Thing comic. Life, death, love, transformation, existential dread and horror of course. -"Like stories, passed on to each generation, changing them and becoming changed in turn." This page is a wonderful tapestry of those many years, stories and adventures woven into one. Even as a long-time fan, I am far from a Swampy scholar, nonetheless I appreciate the significance of the imagery and thus am quite sure that Ram and Mike had good reasons to choose every scene depicted. To look at this page and know Mike Perkins did all these faithful renderings by HAND is nothing short of extraordinary. The history invoked by these images is a beautiful collage-representation of the many aspects of the character that have given fans like me such a lush and fruitful tuber to sink our collective teeth into. A very sincere and heartfelt Thank you to Mike and especially Ruben for the privilege of holding and seeing this brilliant piece in person. Social/Sharing |

When I first laid eyes on this, my first instinct was "This is mine!". But then I also knew a LOT of collectors were also going to want it and whenever I have a page which will be inquired about by many, I typically defer to them and let someone else have it, which is why I "sacrificed" and made it available to everyone else.
There's really nothing I can say about the page that you didn't already say beautifully yourself. But for anyone who is familiar with Swamp Thing's history, this is really a magnificent way to immortalize it and have it all encompassed on a single page of fabulous memories. Congrats on getting it, Justin, I hope you enjoy it for years to come!

That's an all-time Swamp Thing page right there. And it's a lovely homage to all the past genius on this title, too. Has there been any other title with this much gorgeous artistry? I can't think of another one. Man, this is stunning. Big, green congrats!

Wow! Where do you start? This truly must be a sight in person. I gotta imagine that Perkins poured everything he had into this from it's conception all the way through to the completion. Big congrats!

Without question, this is one of the -key- pieces of art in this entire run. I love the choice (and impact) of leaving the spot below Levi white (rather than hatched or blackened)... This lineage of history and tradition of Swamp Thing (just as with all characters) started with a blank page, of course, and I love the ripples that flow out of that initial moment of creation, allowing Levi to simultaneously revisit that history and also focus himself on Becoming. An incredible shout-out to the amazing journey taken by (and artistic greatness that has been visited upon) Swamp Thing in the past! Congrats, Justin!

OMG! This is one of the most phenomenal Swamp Thing pages I've ever seen! I love Mike Perkins' layout here, with the waves of memory rippling through time. This is a breathtaking splash that encompasses the whole tapestry of Swamp Thing's history. Awesome pick-up Justin! Sincere congrats!
