DescriptionIf you've been following my recent posts featuring art from the Pulps, you've seen a lot of George Rozen's work. Finally with this post we get to see the character that made him famous... The Shadow. While this cover prelim is not as tightly rendered as the western covers I've posted, he really did have a great idea of what the final product would look like. Everything in this prelim is featured on the published cover. The only thing added to the final cover strangely, are the Geese! The Shadow was one of the first multi-media phenomenon's the world had ever seen. First appearing in the Pulps in 1930, the character had the longest running Pulp magazine ever running for 325 issues till 1949. This ran pretty much concurrently with the wildly successful hit radio drama that ran for an astounding 21 seasons! (even Orson Wells voiced the character for a time). Over the decades the character could also be seen in comic-strips, comic books, movie serials, big screen movies, and more. This cover is from the Winter 1949 issue. It measures 7 X 10 I have it nicely matted with a color reproduction of the printed cover. Social/Sharing |

These guys missing point blank don't seem too formidable for the Shadow. The foie gras of crime bears bitter terrine! Force feeding does not pay...The Shadow Chef knows!

I think the prelim is even better than the published cover. Congrats on another great pickup!
