Are these pencil or ink pen? The raw humor is sometimes harder to recreate for the final published image.
These are 90% felt tip pen. There are a few blue line pencil outlines in a panel or 2. THe one with the nose the bottom 2 panels were cut out and new drawings taped down. THose 2 were blueline by hand then inked over. Clearly he wanted to get the punchline cleaner. And yes I agree i love the raw feel of these, all the heavy lifiting for the stip is done on these pages, and the finish is just a refinement. I assume these prelims are 100% Jim Davis and his assistants are who exicute the final? I wish I knew for sure but I am going to believe that is the case ;-)
