Description"Dune: Blood of the Saradaukar" #1 Page 23Written by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert Art by: Adam Gorham I am incredibly excited for Denis Villeneuve's "Dune." His earlier films "Arrival" and "Blade Runner 2049" were incredible works of cinema. The trailer to "Dune" looks epic and unlike anything I have seen on screen before. I have not read Frank Herbert's book, but I have watched the David Lynch version which I realize may not the best representation of the authors work or vision. I acknowledge some of my hesitation is that for some reason I have this belief that it is somewhat impenetrable. To prep for the movie, I have been trying some of the comics Boom! Studios have been publishing, my favorite being the one-shot, "Dune: Blood of the Saradaukar." "Blood of Saradaukar" is the story of Jopati Kolana, a warrior in the emperor's elite guard and his struggles as he reconciles his hatred for House Atreides, who he believed responsible for the destruction of his home and planet. It was an excellent story that I felt was a good gateway into the world. The comic was beautifully illustrated by Adam Gorham. Adam is a rising star in comics, it's interesting to see Adam drew some of the pages on 8x11 Bristol which I have not seen before. This page is a great example of Adam Gorham's storytelling and choreography. Social/Sharing |
