DescriptionConsiderably faster than I'd expected, here's the second issue of my Golden Age Team-Up Project commission series - The Brave And The Bold #202, pairing the Golden Age Batman with Robotman. Artwork by Bambos Georgiou, who I expect to be drawing all the covers in this series, and adapted from the Perez/Sinnott cover to Marvel Two-In-One #52 (see, I told you they wouldn't all be based on Marvel Team-Up issues!).1942 - and following the clash with Baron Blitzkrieg in the last issue, Batman is still on the trail of the Axis agents sabotaging Gotham's defence plants. After a tip-off from an underworld source who wants nothing to do with the Nazis, Batman discovers an abandoned warehouse in the harbour district - with unexpectedly sophisticated defences, which detect his body heat and target high-powered mechanically-operated machine guns at him, from which he only narrowly escapes! A call to the Perisphere results in the swift arrival of Batman's fellow All-Star Squadron member Robotman, and as his metal body doesn't trigger the heat sensors, Robotman demolishes the warehouse's defences and the two heroes break in - to be confronted by a small army of Nazi operatives, being addressed via viewscreen by Baron Blitzkrieg! After a furious battle, the Axis agents are largely defeated, but as the two heroes search an inner office for clues the Baron starts to detonate the explosive harnesses worn by his henchmen - and Batman, shielded by Robotman, is only able to grab a small handful of documents before the warehouse is destroyed! With Baron Blitzkrieg still on the loose, Batman can only hope that the material he's saved will provide clues to help in tracking the Nazi mastermind! Continued - next issue! Incidentally, I noted last time that I'd planned this initial story as a five-parter but that I'd identified a few other covers which might work as part of it --- my best guess now is that this story will be between ten and twelve issues long, so it'll be well into next year before I shift over to doing a few DC Comics Presents issues featuring the Golden Age Superman. Hopefully The Brave And The Bold issues will keep you entertained. 😉 Social/Sharing |
