I clicked and zoomed in, and you're right - it is mind-boggling! Outstanding piece!
Thanks, Michael! You should definitely check his stuff out on social media - some very cool examples of this style.
I think of Spidey 2099 as a more of being an "in the shadows" kind of character with how much shadows and black were in his costume during the original Leonardi run, but this is a nice change of pace. A hopeful kind of image with that strong lighting effect, and the color hatching is a uniquely cool technique. Very cool! Congrats, Eranga!
Thanks man! And absolutely right that he's usually portrayed at night with only city lighting - more predatory that heroic. One of the layouts he did for me did evoke that but I gravitated to this one because if it's uniqueness.
As Into Spider-Verse showed, there are no limits to these characters and how they are portrayed. This has a great joy in the pose as he leaps into the void without fear. Miguel is given these colors that celebrate his powers even as he stretches and strains to take human anatomy beyond what we define.
I almost envision this as the end of a long night. Thought bubble: "what the hell are you still doing outside, Miguel?!"
Holy crap, this is awesome!! I wonder how long it took to color this, sheesh!
I want to say he puts the work in...from initial sketch to final piece he worked on and off on it for a week maybe?
Wowow, dude just crosshatched the whole dawn/dusk sky... fantastic. Spidey 2099 rendered so well against that backdrop!
Yeah man...it's really impeccable cross-hatching which can be challenging just focusing on black and white. To also mix in color theory and blending while hatching at the same time is a rare skill IMO.
Wow, what great and unique styling and the color really POPS! Congrats - thanks for sharing (finally)! ;)
He does great B&W work too! I'm definitely a sheepish I missed posting this :) Better late than never I guess!
Amazing
This piece is just stunning. The technique, the colors, the pose and energy. Great add to your collection!
How did I miss you posting this? Phenomenal piece! Mirko was just starting to be on my radar and I'm very excited to see what he brings in the future. Back to this piece, fantastic ask and brilliant execution! The colorwork is really divine. Congrats!
Part of the problem is I didn't post it till like 11 months after I got it :)
I've got 2 more pieces coming from him as penance for that injustice...hope you got one too, man!
This is definitely one you have to click and zoom. The tones and textures he gets with his hatching are incredible!
Glad to hear people are taking the time to click and zoom, Eric! It definitely enhances the appreciation of his work!
Nicely done!
Beautiful Colors, the cross coloring on the background though, Crazy!!!!!
This commission is spectacular! I can only imagine how vibrant the colors look in person. Congrats!
