Pope's art is honed in to present his vision of the iconic characters. They do not take hold with the mainstream as they are drawn with the approachto provoke thought rather than to appease. It takes that step into reality where you would question those shorts on Robin, a less than ideal face of our hero, and why the golden boy makes an entrance with the "ACTION" sound effect.

Pope's style works great on Batman, but it's that Superman panel, an advertisement, that really makes this page pack such a visual punch.

Took me a while to warm up to Pope's work, but now I think it's fascinating!

I love Paul Pope's work on Batman. He has brought new life to an old franchise. I love his layout here, starting with closeups and ending with a super wide shot of the giant robot! Great pick-up!
