There have been a handful of moments in this hobby where I was genuinely moved by someone's unexpected, unsolicited graciousness and generosity, the moment I received this page was definitely up there and close to my heart. I can't thank you enough Mike, I truly appreciate your gesture, it means a lot.

An impressively rendered and solemn shot of NYC. Though that is a humbling part of this page, at the time it was not what seared it into the adolescent, primitive, nostalgic part of my brain.

This was a page from my first main issue run of Spawn, preceded by reading a few of the toy comics and Spawn the Impaler #2. Each read countless times.

My only other issue of the Spawn title was 63 and then for reasons I cant recall, I just didnt or couldnt get myself back to the comic shop. So now I have the blessing to curate another piece of my (and I'm sure thousands of other kids) childhood and I am just feel very blessed to have it and even more blessed to have friends like I do.

I would have liked to have seen Capullos pencils before they were inked just to compare them with the final product; the inks on this page are not the kind of complex cross-hatchery the 90's are known for but they are beautiful when considering the magical energy that is exploding onto and out of this page. I dont generally compare artists to other artists but when I look at this page, I can easily envision someone such as Daniel Warren Johnson producing something with similarly powerful kinetics.

Angela knows how to make an entrance! A romantic look at the New York skyline in the first inset panel of how it used to be. The skyscrapers are made to loom even larger to be able to contain all the energy from Angela.

Isn't it amazing when you get a page straight from your childhood? Ah, sweet nostalgia. :) And I thought just as you said, it does have a more modern DWJ look, or even Harren, in some of the techniques used. I wonder if pages like this were inspiration? Congrats on a cool page (and friend)!
