Description
Revolver was a monthly UK anthology title aimed at the 'mature comics' market. As such, it never really found an audience, and folded after 7 issues. As befitted the early 1990s, the art was gorgeous, but the storytelling fuzzy and deliberately off-kilter. It was also resolutely boomer, with a flagship strip being a psychedelic re-telling of the life of Jimmy Hendrix by Charles Shaar Murray and Floyd Hughes.

'Rogan Josh' by Milligan and McCarthy was a psychedelic bildungsroman, with time traveling curry houses, mutilation, gay subtext and, on this page, Rudyard Kipling!

Milligan and McCarthy, rather pretentiously, described themselves as 'fine artists doing comics', an attitude that was never really going to add up to creating something readable or particularly enjoyable. The art, however was beautiful...

It was reprinted by Vertigo in 1994.

It looks great as the influence of the ancient spice ripples through time to brings new ways of thought to this page.

Damn that's nice! Lovely to see without the acetate.
