Description
A Bruce McCorkindale "what if" version of the cover to ACTION COMICS #276 based on artwork by Curt Swan, Stan Kaye, and Murphy Anderson from ACTION #267 and SECRET ORIGINS #25. Pen, brush and ink on 13 X 20" bristol board.

My original conception was to use the Swan & Kaye Supergirl figure from the original ACTION #276 cover but to add LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES to the image because this particular issue included the 6th appearance of the Legion.

I liked the SECRET ORIGINS #25 cover by Swan and Anderson and thought it could be re-purposed as a "Hall of Heroes" that the Legionnaires were looking at a hologram or statue of Supergirl in this issue in which she joined the team.

On the original ACTION #276 cover Swan forgot to draw in Supergirl's cape due to all the shattering rocks being hurled at her, so I made a point of Bruce drawing in a cape. Bruce initially forgot and did the commission without the cape, but when I pointed it out to him he kindly added it.

In the "additional images" you can see the two covers this issue was based on along with Bruce's initial attempt (without the cape).

This gets the pastiche of the time period and would fit in as an issue of the run without anyone noticing anything out of place.
