This cel drawing completes the entire Wolverine poppin' claws sequence that was used in the episode itself as and in the closing credits. This end "A" layer cel drawing demonstrates the detail that senior Japanese animators put into them that are sometimes lost in the painted cels and certainly on VHS quality video (POTXM was never released on DVD).
This end sequence included an extra 4 "B" layers of individual cel drawings that make up the effects of Wolverine's claws as they slash through the air. These 4 layers were transferred onto cels that were completely painted black where a technique called "Underlighting" was used to isolate an actual blue light that was shown through the cel. It was so quick in the cartoon that it was a "blink and miss it" type of effect that's been slowed down in the gif below to see the detail. This same technique was used in classic cartoons like Transformers & GI Joe (for laser blasts), as well as movie features like TRON and the lightsabers in Star Wars, way before CGI.
