Description

This has become a very daunting task that's taken quite a while to figure out. I'm hoping to get it done this month. Here we have a blank cover commission with Conan The Barbarian #1 as the canvas. The composition is Conan of Cimmeria holding his own against Hercules, Thor, and Ares...after he's taken down both Iron Man and Captain America. By throwing them in I upgraded the original request to make it a "Conan vs. Avengers" situation. Since Conan is currently a Savage Avenger, this isn't that much of a stretch. So far, only Conan himself is rendered, and to date I've finally managed to flesh out The Lion of Olympus and his God of War half-brother. I've also thrown in a crashed Quinjet in the background, selling the premise of the team crash landing in Conan's world. By throwing a lot of black ink on Cap it gives that ominous tone; is he alive or dead? The same for showing only Tony's head in the foreground. His eye is open, so is his head still attached? How far did Conan go to incur the wrath of three gods? My client also wanted me to garb Thor in his Ragnarok armor, which is why it's still in pencil. I needed more time to flesh it out. I will also throw in more textural detail on Conan, having chosen to color him in beforehand in case the inks smudged. I'm thankful so far that the process has finally gotten some steam back. More as it develops.
