Description
A great splash from 1981 featuring Doctor Strange leading his Defenders team (Gargoyle, Valkyrie, Son Of Satan and Devil-Slayer) through the rift in the Nexus of Realities.

Love the starry/planetary background and the odd scenarios the team is experiencing.

I too am a sucker for starry/planetary backgrounds, and really, who ISN'T? "Outer Space" should be the yearly winner for the "Favourite Background Motif on Original Art Pages" award! Very nice piece, and let's not forget this is also the very important 1st Appearance of Dog Man & Pet Human!

This page pretty much sums of the whole Defenders series for me. Absolutely love it.

Who doesn't love the Nexus of Realities. The next best thing to taking psychadelics.  Very cool indeed. Great Pick up Paul!!

Every night, I dream the same dream.  Then the nightmare begins.

My God, it's full of stars. (2001) Ok, I love this Strange splash! Not only are the Defenders holding hands like kindergartners on a field trip, we have royal apes about to do a waltz. And all that space detail! I'm guessing Perlin saw stars in his dreams (nightmares?) for days after drawing this. My fingers hurt just looking at it. And is that a Ditko planetary homage in the lower left? It looks like one of his favorite sci-fi planet renderings. Nice score. Congrats!

Far out, in more ways than one :)  That space background is nuts, and perfect to display the craziness of this scene with the characters at the fore.  Great depth exhibited throughout, too.  I can dig it, Paul!  Congrats!
