Well, my records say I got this in 2016. But since it's been proven my memory is shot, feel free to correct me if you know better.

For a time I was giving Allen two at a time, figuring at some point Dave would stop doing these, and I had about 12 I wanted to be done over time. I'd tell him that I'd certainly take two if Dave got to them both, or he could just pick the one he felt like doing the most. I'd make sure I'd ask for both the character and the actor that played that character (Claude Rains Invisible Man, here) Not that it would really matter with this one, but if for instance, I asked for the Frankenstein Monster (that's another one that's coming soon) I wanted to make sure I got a Karloff, and not a Glenn Strange or Christopher Lee.

One word of caution about these pieces.

If you own one of these from Dave and they aren't framed, make sure you invest in some acid-free glassine to put over the piece before you put it in an iToya. Over time, with heat, the matte medium may stick to the mylar and a chunk will fall off when you try to pull it out. And if it sticks, by all means, don't pull it out. Take a hairdryer to the mylar (not too hot) to soften it up and then it should pull right out. I've had one close call with one of these, but because I am a meticulous crazy person (with dubious memory) I was able to avoid a catastrophe.

Love this one - might be the best of the bunch so far, IMO. Something about the way he handled the bandages on the right side of his head just seems to evidence that he was really into this one...and it shows. I'm not an artist, so it's hard to articulate, but there's a real energy to what he created here. Awesome.

This is absolutely fantastic! Great composition. And that tension between depiction and abstraction that McKean has is really good here.

Also: why do you have a hairdryer?

I love the right forehead where the bandages are off, leaving the see-through head. This is an amazing batch! As much as I live and collect Univ Monsters stuff, I always tip my hat to you.
