Description

Here we have a lovely 4-Up piece featuring female characters from the short lived Detonator Chaos! Comics series. These pieces were featured in the Lady Death Series 1 Chromium card set which I have to credit for emptying my wallet and leading me down the long and expensive road to non-sport trading card collecting in the late 90's. Those sets from Krome Productions were worse than gambling!

I've seen a few pieces of Steven's trading card art out in the wild, there's even a few here on CAF, but this is the first and only 4-Up piece I've ever seen. I'm sure others exist, Steven did dozens upon dozens of drawings for these card sets over the years. So if you're out there and in possession of Chaos trading card artwork similar to this I'd love to know about it!

Big thanks to Danny Morales for parting with the piece. He's had a few legendary Hughes pieces over the years and I appreciate him letting this one go.

Impresses with how there are no borders with immense linework that is so concentrated and focused. Even if these characters are not well known names, the Hughes name is plenty enough.

you lucky son of a gun you did it again. what Steven did here is special. even tho i have seen all 4 of these images many times. i may have never seen any of the four ladies in any of the books. it doesn't change the fact these images could have been 4 variant covers. the detail is that great. then there is 4 of them on 1 sheet. just amazing good buddy. see ya in June. 1900
