Thunderbolts # 21 p 13- Songbird Projects Sound Barriers

Awesome page as it has a demonstration of her powers in a large figure and shows off her inner turmoil!  All done by the much celebrated Bagley and Hanna team!

Man, that Mark Bagley...  Such a great talent.  This page has so much going for it, with Mr. Bagley switching gears all over the place here (and Scott Hanna keeping up nicely with him, every step of the way); dust settling, stage setting, action, character moments...  Kurt Busiek can turn in some pretty dense scripts (and I mean that with ALL affection - the man just lives to create multi-layered and fully fleshed out tales) and Mark Bagley was able to navigate those with grace and aplomb right out of the gate on T-Bolts, always producing work that captured everything and made it SO much fun to look at.  A great 'kitchen sink' page here (with great inking) with a superb shot of Songbird (one of my favorites, too, thanks to 'Avengers Forever'!).  Another winner, Ryan!

Great page, Ryan!  And yeah, that bottom left panel is tops.  It's funny when you talk about sound power.  My earliest I can think of about that was Secret Wars, when I learned Klaw was a "solidified sound" being.  I wondered "how does that work?!"  But I digress.  Congrats on nabbing this beaut!

On page 13 in this book, there's a Songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. 

And a new day will dawn, for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter!
Does anybody remember laughter?

I love this. Its signifies an element underlying my appreciation for Songbird I'm not sure I was conscious of until now. Thanks! 

Fabulous page by Bagley and Hanna! Love the composition of the page! Great to have a panel with a full-figure of Songbird wielding her sonic powers to great effect. Beautiful inks with strong use of blacks. Great pick-up!

And here we see how Bagley excels at action.  The storytelling is so impeccable and clear that the reader knows what is going on, even without dialogue.  Just beautiful.

I purchased my two Thunderbolts pages for the exact reasons you emphasize in your comments on both pages. One of my goals to purchase pages that display the range of a comic artist. Bagley, along with Patrick Gleason and several others are just so good at the action scenes AND the human, emotional scenarios. 

I appreciate you adding a comment to this page and others in my collection! 

Songbird is my favorite one too.  I love this page, major jealousy on my part.
