Spider-Man and Venom

When I decided to go for the Preacher piece, I noticed that Soo's commission list was open. I thought to myself there's no better time than now, and decided to add another Spider-Man versus villain commission to the collection. I had seen some previous Venom drawings by Soo and liked her take on the symbiote, so I figured why not go with that classic 90's pairing.

As you can see, the end result is great! As Spider-Man swings through the city, he is never quite out of Venom's grasp. Love how the cityscape and the black sky play well with how big and ominous Venom is in the background. Dig that Spidey pose too.

During the commission process, I received an email from Josh asking if I would like color added to the piece. I told him I am all for it if that's what Soo wants to do. She ended up coloring it with watercolor and gouache (Say it with me now), and it really brings the whole thing to life! The purple outline on Venom is also a very nice touch. Also pleased to see the one and only red and blue Spider-Man here, as opposed to the entirely fictitious, red and black-doesn't print well on paper version :)
