Justice League: The Rise & Fall Special #1 p27 (2010) Vicente Cifuentes

Vicente Cifuentes inks over Diogenes Nieves printed bluelines. Original published image.

It was a few pages from this issue on Vicente's website that fueled my need to put together an order and break my rules on purchasing bluelines. I'd remembered liking the artwork when I read the comic and seeing the original artwork blew me away. Fantastic images of Barry, Hal, and Dinah on this impressive splash. Hal is making a power ring construct and use of powers is always great on a page. However, it was the multiple images of the Flash that knocked it out of the ballpark as I love pages that feature the afterimage effects highlighting Barry's superspeed. This was especially cool as it was large images in different directions which is unusual as afterimages tend to be similar in a straight line following the main image of Flash. And highlighting Vicente's inking skills if you view each image from the first in the middle to the bottom right image, you'll notice the inking gets darker and darker moving towards the 'live' image of the Flash ... very cool!

I have no doubt that if the original pencils by Nieves are out there this finished printed image of the original artwork would be my choice.

As you noted, great after-image effect for the Flash on display here. Very nice splash!

Cifuentes does make it his own with the use of the white speed lines on Flash and Canary's glossy fishnets.

Fabulous splash! Amazing work by Nieves and Cifuentes! I especially like the muliple Flash figures!
