Description

Brisby ?? Mrs Jonathan Brisby ????

This was the first amazing scene that showed that not even Mrs Brisby was aware of her late husband's importance to others. And how just mentioning his name brought recognition and reverence.

The art doesn't exactly match the scene in the movie. When the Great Owl turns, Mrs Brisby is actually out of the frame.

The additional image shows the courageous Mrs Brisby and amazing colors in detail.

The Secret of NIMH is the 1982 movie adaption of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH.

Mrs Brisby was voiced by Elizabeth Hartman.

The Great Owl was voiced by John Carradine.

John Pomeroy was a Producer and Animator for The Secret of NIMH and part of Don Bluth Productions. What a talent !!

Thanks a lot to Cami and John Pomeroy !!

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was written by Robert C. O'Brien and illustrated by Zena Bernstein.

This is so great.  I just, very recently, had the pleasure of watching A Patch of Blue (starring the late Sidney Potier and the late Elizabeth Hartman) for the first time.  While I very much enjoyed the film, the whole time I was watching it, I was struck by Hartman's voice.  I just kept thinking how much she sounded like a cartoon character.  Apparently, I wasn't the only one.

While I'm a huge Disney fan, my two favorite non-Disney animated films are Iron Giant, and The Secret of NIMH.  I really enjoyed Don Bluth's worh, and honestly, knew nothing of Pomeroy.  So thanks, not only for this fun bit of nostalgia, but also for the added education.  Will certainly look more into Pomerory's career after this posting.  Great, great, piece!

The movie had a lot of great voices !!  The booming voice and meek voice in this scene is a good analog for when Dorothy first meets the Wizard of Oz.

Great animation when you can get the natural settings captured into the lines.  The work at the base with the talons and the ground are more illustrative than animation.

Probable the most intense scene of that superb movie, congrats.
